Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers understand rural showbiz: its performances, venues, touring life, customs or creative preparation. Send proposals through the Contact page, with enough detail for us to see the shape of the piece.
What makes a strong pitch
Choose one focused question and explain what a reader will take away. A useful pitch might compare two ways of shaping a live bill, explain how a venue changes the audience experience or trace the background of a show-going custom. Keep the subject distinct, evergreen where possible and suited to a general audience.
What to include
Tell us your working title, the main point, the intended reader and how you would organise the piece. Note any sources or material you expect to rely on, and mention relevant connections that could affect how the pitch is read. A concise proposal is easier to assess than a finished draft sent without context.
Sending a proposal
Use the Contact page and choose the editorial option. We cannot promise to take on every idea, and a proposal is not an assignment. Please do not send confidential material or assume that we can provide professional advice about regulations, contracts or safety.
A good show belongs to its place
The room, the audience and the people putting on the event all shape the evening. We look at those details without turning every show into a verdict.
